Mas Donis Barrica 2005 Old Vines and Flor de Oliva Gold

Region: Spain
Color: Dark red
Nose: Licorice, Violets, Black Cherry, and Blueberry
Price and Place: Binny's for about $13 (Although my sister is missing her bottle)

Mas Donis Barrica 2005 Old Vines is a blend of Garnacha (85%) and Syrah (15%) aged for 8 months in French and American oak before bottling without fining or filtration. It is a layered, long, and a complex wine, although you can enjoy it right away as I just did, it can be aged for another 2-3 years. For $13 this is a must have (rated 89-91).

I visited my local cigar shop, R & B Tobacco , and the owner
suggested Flor de Oliva. I opted for the Gold series as they were mild to medium in body, and as usual I prefer the robusto size. This is from the makers of Oliva (who also makes my beloved Nubs). It was made in Nicaragua using a Connecticut shade wrapper and filler tobacco from Nicaragua. This cigar was easy to light and burns evenly. It's not very complex but like it's close relatives tastes creamy, has a hint of spice, but still very sweet. With a price point of $2.40 this is a great value! I will be purchasing more in the near future...

Enjoy!
