To Be Continuum...
Gorgeous, Elegant, Seductive, Luxurious, and Sexy – I recently discovered what these words share in common, Continuum Estate 2009. This beautiful wine is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petite Verdot, and 4% Merlot.
I was lucky enough to attend a dinner at Rockit Bar and Grill focusing on the release of Continuum Estate, 2009. Billy Dec, owner, was there to make sure everything was perfect. He succeeded. The food from start to finish was fantastic, the service was amazing, and the ambiance was incredible. If you have not been, change that.
The organizers paired this with some amazing company. I’m sure you’ve heard of The Mondavi family? I mean, who hasn’t?!? I have to admit I was rather excited to meet them, Tim and his son Carlo Mondavi were as gracious as could be. They made sure every guest (and there were a lot) had time to talk to them, answering questions and talking about their wine. Oh yea, I’m here to write about the wine. Well let’s get to it…
Ever heard of the song Adagio for Strings from Samuel Barber? If not, Google it, I’ll wait…Yea well that is what played in my head (perhaps the William Orbit version) when I sipped on the2009 Continuum wine. From Pritchard Hill, Napa Valley, it was basically “love” in a glass! This has aromas of ripe black cherry, fine dark chocolate, and small notes of floral. The flavors explode in your mouth with blackberry, black truffle, exotic spices, licorice, and espresso. The wine finished incredibly long with silky tannins reminding you of the quality you are drinking. What a wine! Well, with a limited production, I will be picking up this bottle and aging it for years. What will I think of this wine when it ages in the bottle after some years? Well that’s To Be Continuum…
