Dear Market Vineyards

Thank you. Thank you for your remarkable wines. Thank you for your vision, knowledge, and dedication that was evident in my glass. In fact, I’m kinda crushing on you. I can’t express how much I’ve relished your wines but I will certainly try…

Your 2008s’ Columbia Valley wines were superb! I started out with your “Benchmark” Merlot for $29. Aromas of cinnamon, herbal notes, and a tad bit of tobacco. Herbal notes come through on the palate with bold tannins, followed by some earthiness. This is a much more serious Merlot than I’m used to (one that commands some respect), and only get better with about 6 or so years. I moved on to your “Basis Points” Meritage for $39. A Bordeaux-style blend of 58% Cab, 17% Merlot, 17% Cab Franc, 8% Malbec. The color is somewhat bossy with how dark and deep it is. This had scents of some dusty oak, black olive, and green beans. Violet, pencil shavings, and blackcurrant layered my tongue leaving me lip-smacking for more. From a Bordeaux lover you’ve done very well! I pushed on to your “Arbitrage” Cabernet Sauvignon for $35. The bouquet beetroot, prune, blackberry, and cherry escape the glass. I tasted rich dark fruits, full-bodied but smooth tannins, and…well this was SO good, my favorite of the four, so balanced in every way! Lastly I tasted “Derivative” Red Blend of 55% Cab, 25% Syrah, 14% Merlot, 6% Malbec for $20. This was a delicious infusion of ripe black fruits and some black pepper. It was smooth and an easy drink – a huge value considering the cost.

So I really just wanted to thank you for your brilliant wines. Anyone else reading my letter that is interested in their wines (since they don’t have a distributor yet) can go to their website to contact them, Market Vineyards
